It starts with several items on one shelf. Then another gets occupied. One bookcase, two, three, and once we run out of space for bookcases, we hang more Shelves on the walls. Book lovers may actually end up having them in every interior of their house.
Books are very valuable for bookworms. They accompany us everyday, we have an emotional attachment to them as well as a huge sentiment. But let’s be honest, books also simply look good around the apartment. What’s an attractive and practical way to store books, then?
Bookcases and Shelves
Which is the most obvious way to store books. To keep books in a bookcase and for it to look good, though, we need to simply have a lot of them. And once we do have books to put in it, we can think about their arrangement – by colors, authors, genres or size.
Shelves are more like an addition and not furniture, so if our collection isn’t very big, they will be the best solutions. The simple ones can be decorated with books. A popular solution these days are the so-called hidden Shelves that make books look like they were hanging in the air. Boards hanging on thick ropes or straps also catch attention.
On a night or coffee table
An interior decor hit of the recent months. Books on a coffee table! They look beautiful on it. They are exposed, among flowers and knick-knacks. Especially albums or beautiful guides. An equally good option will be a night table. It is especially convenient to those who always end the day with a book in the bed.
Baskets and boxes
Not very common, yet so beautiful. Metal Baskets especially work perfectly with children’s books, as those are lightweight and allow to hang the basket on the wall.
One unquestionable advantage of keeping books in Baskets or boxes, when not hanging anywhere, is their mobility. We can move them from one place to another wherever they best suit our decor, and once we get bored of such storing method, we can use the basket or box for something else around the bedroom, bathroom or balcony. It is also a relatively inexpensive solution, and a perfect one to start book hoarding with.
The truth is, we can use any space and gap to store books. Pile them up on the stairs or simply on the floor. If we have a wide windowsill, they can be kept there as well, we need to remember to protect them from humidity, though.
Where to store Bookmarks?
It may be all about books, but there’s something else that book lovers also have in excess – Bookmarks. Keeping them loose on a shelf or bookcase is not a good idea. Neither is putting them in books we’re not reading at the moment, as we will later have to remember which book we put them in.
Bookmarks can be put in a nice wooden jewelry box or other type of decorative box. The best solution, though, is a book-shaped box: it looks good, we can put it next to other books and we will always know where the Bookmarks are – neat and readily available.
